New: Elephant back safari. On the back of a Elephant you discover the bush from a different view. Conducted on the Kapama 'Big-5' private reserve. We can book this safari for you! 


The last Rand-friendly "Big 5" lodge in the Lowveld. Perfect located between the Phalaborwa and Orpen-gate for daytrips into the Kruger park. Amukela is manager-owned, and we can book "Big 5" game-drives & bushwalks, subject to availability. Relax during the day in our pool, with an open vieuw to the bushveld. Watch the game at our waterhole, during evening lightned with a spotlight. Enjoy a braai in the boma, under the African sky. Listen to the voices of Africa! The camp is built on a dry riverbed, overlooking a waterhole where game come and go all day long. Fully game-fenced to keep animals out of the camp.

Amukela accommodates a maximum of 8 people in 4 typical African rondawels, which ensures an exclusive time. African meals, such as braai, potjiekos and bobotie are served in our boma.

Accommodation
Amukela is an exclusive lodge, with 4 en-suite African style rondawels, each with its own overhead fan and kingsizebed with a mosquitonet. There is a spacious area where breakfast is served, and also a lounge with lots of books, magazines and maps. The ablution block is in close range of the bar and pool.

Locatation
Amukela is situated in the "Big 5" Balule Private Nature Reserve, which also hosts cheetah's and wild dogs. Located on the east-side of the R40 between Hoedspruit and Mica, you'll find our lodge. Deep in the heart of the African bushveld, in Big-5 country.

Activities
Amukela is ideally situated for visits to all of the area's wildlife and scenic attractions - being less than 20 minutes from the Kapama Cheetah Breeding Project, Khamai Reptile Park, as well as Moholoholo Rehabillitation Centre. We are a mere 35 minutes from the Kruger Park's Phalaborwa Gate and close enough to make a visit to the Blyde River Canyon a worthwhile experience. Amukela offers game-walks and game-drives, all in private Big-5 area and under the guidance of experienced and qualified nature guides.
