King Williams Town was established in 1834 and has since become an important agricultural and commercial centre. Blue Haven B&B is situated 5km from the Eastern Cape Province's capital city - Bisho and only 45 minutes from East London. It is close to the CBD and tourist attractions such as the Amatole Musuem. From Blue Haven it is 35 minutes drive to Kidds Beach, the beach front in East London and only 80km to Hoggsback mountains and hicking trails. Rooms Two beautiful decorated double rooms with en-suite shower and 2 beautiful decorated single rooms with en-suite shower. Each of the 4 suites have a TV, coffee & tea making facilities, fans, heating in winter and toiletries. Activities The Amatole museum holds 25'000 specimens of African mammals, some which are very rare, such as one of two of the black lechwe of Zimbabwe, a 5,5m tall giraffe, web-footed hares from Calvinia, silver moles from Namaqualand and more. An interesting exhibit is that of Huberta, a hippo who took a trip of 800Km down the coast of South Africa. South African Missionary Museum details the missionary history of the area and of the country, in the former Methodist church. The Steve Biko Garden of Rememberance can be viewed, as well as the graves of victims of the Bisho massacre. How to get there Take N2 From East London (Alexandra Road). First street after 3RD traffic light, turn left into Arthur street. B & B situated on right hand side of the road. |
